Our Story
An ode to the world’s most iconic hotel bars --
Reimagined for Charleston
Bellerose Hotel Bar was created with a simple belief: the best bars in the world aren’t the loudest—they’re the hotel bars. Those timeless, quietly confident rooms where the lighting glows golden, the martinis arrive perfectly chilled, and the atmosphere is intimate enough to turn strangers into regulars. These are places that carry history, character, and a certain unspoken magic.
our love letter to the greats
Inspirations
Bellerose is our love letter to the greats:
Bemelmans at The Carlyle.
The King Cole Bar.
Bar Hemingway at The Ritz Paris.
The Connaught Bar in London.
Duke’s Bar in London.
Not replicas. Not tributes. But inspirations — guiding stars for the feeling we wanted to cultivate here in Charleston.
Then Came The Serendipity
A Story In Motion
The building we discovered wasn’t just a space; it was a story already in motion. Locals say it began as a small neighborhood grocery in the 1800s before transforming into a boutique private hotel annex in the 1920s—complete with a discreet back-bar reserved for guests and friends of the house. The hotel itself faded away decades ago, but the bones of that hidden bar remained, waiting patiently in the shadows.
A Legacy Continued
Rediscovered
Bellerose Hotel Bar is our continuation of that legacy—its next chapter—brought to life with renewed glamour and a sense of rediscovered charm. Not a restoration of the past, but an evolution of it.
History Woven Into Its Walls
Timeless
Today, Bellerose blends the soul of an old-world hotel bar with the warmth of Charleston hospitality. It is a place to slow down, settle in, and savor the details: the soft glow of the room, the weight of polished glassware, the perfectly stirred drink, the feeling that you’ve stepped into a space with history woven into its walls.
This is a bar for regulars—even on your first visit.
A Room That Feels Discovered...
This is a bar for regulars—even on your first visit.
A room that feels discovered rather than announced.
A space designed for conversation, ritual, and the kinds of nights that linger long after last call. Where the martinis flow, and your glass never rests empty.
